KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: Officers at Air Customs Department foiled an attempt by an expatriate to smuggle 7 kg parcel of tea stuffed with marijuana from Kenya into the country via DHL, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Acting on the orders of Director General of Customs Khalid Al-Seif and Director of Air Customs Uhda Al-Obeidan, the officers verified the parcel and discovered it contained marijuana. They conducted necessary investigations to uncover identity of the recipient-an expatriate working for the military. They traced his location in Fahaheel area and referred him to prosecution.
Robbery bid foiled: A Kuwaiti man escaped an armed robbery attack in front of his residence at Sabah Al- Nasser when an unknown person waylaid him and threatened to stab him with sharp object in an attempt to take by force KD 45,000 in his possession, reports Al- Watan Arabic daily. The man summoned courage to resist the attack while his wife cried out for help until the robber felt unsafe and fled the scene. The man sustained bruises in the hand while struggling with the thief. Apparently, the citizen had just received the amount from a debtor in Shuwaikh and wasn’t aware the suspect was trailing him until he reached his residence where the episode took place.
13,000 fake branded lady bags seized: Customs officers at Mina Shuaiba foiled an attempt by some traders to import 13,000 fake branded lady bags regarded as contraband into the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The officers acted on the orders of Southern Ports Director Waleed Al-Sabej and Comptroller of Southern Ports Rashid Saad Al-Tayan to embark on a thorough inspection during the operation, in coordination with counterparts from the Inspection and Monitoring Unit at Mina Shuaiba and the Investigation Office. The items with the owners were referred to the concerned authority for prosecution.
