KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: Several Kuwaitis and expatriates, including some mechanic workshop owners, expressed resentment on the attitude of some garages that exploit and cheat customers, noting just a few mechanics apply conscience while dealing with customers, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
According to Kuwaiti citizen Hamad Al-Azemi, several owners of mechanic workshops cheat their customers, and many of them replace spare parts with fake ones without declaring the truth to customers. He said some of them even fix used spare-parts in place of the original.
In her comment, Umm Mohammad observed that vehicles are extremely faulty during summer season. She said her favorite mechanic is a Pakistani, and she was forced to fix her car at another workshop in Shuwaikh one time, where she was told that her car needed a new battery she bought for almost KD 20 but she was surprised that the car did not work thereafter.
Later, she discovered the problem was with the dynamo and she lost the money she had spent on new battery, because the replaced one was also in order. A senior official at a car spare parts showroom Fakhrdin said that spare parts should be original and first grade.
He urged customers to purchase car parts themselves for their mechanics to fix them only. He declared that failure to do so may lead them to fixing used or fake parts in their cars. He also said most of the mechanics insist on buying fake spare parts since they are cheaper. He urged customers to ensure they purchase spare parts by themselves to avoid duping by their mechanics.
