KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: Ministry of Electricity and Water has announced that it has started receiving applications for electricity supply in commercial, industrial, government and investment buildings electronically through Kuwait Municipality and engineering bureaus, reports Al-Rai daily. In a press statement, the ministry stressed the fact that it will not receive any applications for power supply except electronically when the system is activated after which all transactions will be carried out electronically. Sources from Ministry of Electricity indicated that the process of manual submission of applications for power supply will cease from Sunday November 2, 2014.
They revealed that the ministry has addressed owners of engineering bureaus, consultancies, electricity contractors and air conditioning companies to send their representatives to the ministry in order to register in the ministry’s system.
The sources also revealed that the new system was supposed to start its operations from beginning of this year but the project was postponed several times due to the engineering and consultancy bureaus’ lack of preparation.
They explained that the ministry had tested the project last year, which was successful, because of which the ministry has started applications for power supply installations electronically from investment and commercial sectors, and also private residential buildings.
The sources stressed the importance of the project in facilitating the procedures for the citizens in terms of completing the transactions quickly and easily adding that the construction license will go directly to the ministry without the need for citizens to move from one governmental office to another.
