KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: The Committee for Raising Awareness on Contagious Diseases in the Ministry of Health has launched a training course for the nursing staff on the procedures to prevent spread of Ebola virus, reports Al- Seyassah daily quoting Committee Chairman Dr Ghaliya Al-Mutairi. In a recent press statement, Al-Mutairi disclosed the training course includes five lectures and five workshops, which started in the beginning of September and will last conclude on Sept 22.
He explained these lectures and workshops are aimed at raising awareness among the nursing staff to deal with Ebola, particularly contamination through direct communication between people. She confirmed the course is in compliance with Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr Khalid Al- Sahalawi who stressed the need to raise the awareness of personnel of the health sector to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. She added the undersecretary also stressed the importance of training the medical and technical personnel to ensure perfect application of precautionary measures in coordination with various departments in the ministry. She said lectures are in English and Arabic to include various levels of nursing staff.
On the other hand, Chairperson of Nursing Unit in Jahra Health District Zahraa Abdulimam, one of the committee members, has emphasized the importance of coordinating between the Training and Development Office and chairpersons of nursing staff units in the health districts and hospitals to attend the training program. She said the participants in the training course will learn about the nature of the disease, precautionary procedures and ways of dealing with bodies of those who died due to the virus.
